It is with a huge sense of pride that I am writing to you to introduce our latest OFSTED inspection report. Almost exactly four years to the day that I started as Head Teacher at the school, we have finally achieved my ambition for the school which was simply to make West Jesmond the very best school it could be; a truly outstanding school.
I have the privilege today of informing you that following the two day inspection, by four OFSTED inspectors, on February 11th and 12th 2015 we have been judged to be:
OUTSTANDING in every single judgement
Overall Effectiveness: Outstanding 1
Leadership and Management: Outstanding 1
Behaviour and Safety: Outstanding 1
Quality of Teaching: Outstanding 1
Achievement of Pupils: Outstanding 1
Early Years Provision (Reception): Outstanding 1
The inspectors were so impressed with our whole school, our children and the standard of work they achieve on their journey from Reception to Year 6 though their own dedication and also the wonderful teaching they receive. There are so many highlights in the report that I would urge you to please take time to read the full report carefully.
We certainly intend to celebrate our success with the children and the wider learning community of Newcastle over the next few weeks, but I also want to assure you that everything will continue on as planned over the rest of the academic year. We have lots of exciting events planned for this half-term already including Science week, a visiting ceramicist to make pottery tiles with the children and a story-telling evening linked to World Book Day along with a visit to the City Hall for the choir and dance club!
Finally, I just want to say thank you on behalf of myself and all the staff. We could not have done it without your loyal and generous support over the past four years.
